Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope the holidays find you surrounded by family and friends and pray for safe journeys for those travelling.
Your OLA Board of Directors has been very busy in 2011. We strive to be very informative with our newsletters and website. Transparency is an important role of the board and each and every board member welcomes your comments, suggestions and feedback. As you know, we have been extraordinarily busy with the restoration efforts of our lake. We take great pride in being good stewards and listening to our members. Not too long ago, we performed a survey of our membership and the overwhelmingly #1 item OLA members wanted addressed was the condition of the lake. I am very proud of the commitment from each of your elected OLA Directors and the passion they have for our lake. Please remember to thank a director or committee member when you see them, after all they are volunteers putting in tremendous hours and effort with the Association. I also wish to thank all previous OLA Directors who helped us get to this point. They laid the foundation many years ago for which we continue to build upon. I wish to welcome the new Directors also and thank them for their time, talents and treasures - Dr Lou Habryl, Tony Sharkey and Lisa Boike. I invite each and every OLA member to consider strengthening our association by becoming a Director or assisting on a committee.
As you will see at the November 2011 OLA Board Meeting we adjusted our membership dues. I would like to address the necessity for increasing the 2012 membership dues. As you know we have limited financial resources as we migrate towards a monumental Restoration project. However, it is not only the restoration efforts that were a deciding factor in raising the dues. Our dues are very affordable at $25 per year and we wish to maintain the aspect of affordability. We have approved a $10 increase to $35 annually effective with the 2012 Dues. I commit to all members that financial responsibility is of great importance to your board, however, please keep in mind that progress takes resources. While we have been very diligent in leveraging the funds available to OLA via the Corp, we must be able to continue to be in a position to not only provide value to our members but to be able to perform and prepare for our future.
Please consider us for any year-end giving whether it be dedicated to general, restoration, clean boats/clean water or fireworks. We are a united team with a common vision and your support is sincerely appreciated.
Best Wishes, Nick
Watch for the weed survey report in December.
Fall 2011 Roadside Cleanup
September 24th, 2011 roadside cleanup had poor turnout but still a success. A big THANK YOU to everyone that participated. Six volunteers bagged about 12 bags and had pizza afterwards, which was fun. Hope to see more people there in the spring. Watch for 2012 details on this site and in the member newsletter.
